Oceanic Blanket Pattern

Oceanic Blanket Pattern

This one has been a long time in the works! I first designed it for Jimmy Beans Wool back in 2020 for their 2021 blanket club. They commissioned me to use the super soft and squishy Malabrigo Rios wool to design it.

I did things a little differently than I normally do when designing the 4 granny square patterns that make up the Oceanic Blanket.  Usually, I don’t give a second thought to stitch counts and how much yarn is used, but because of the way this pattern would be released gradually over a year with a specific yarn for each month, I had to change it up.

Lots of granny squares before the cream border

That means that each of the patterns is a circle that goes square, but the squaring off and stitch counts for all four patterns is the same.

Each of the 4 granny square patterns is named after an ocean – hence the name Oceanic Blanket. I designed a border just for this blanket, which has wave shapes in it to suit the theme.

What’s in the Oceanic Blanket Pattern?

Here’s what you’ll find in the PDF pattern;

  • detailed yarn requirements
  • written patterns in UK & US terminology in the one PDF
  • charts, both right-handed and left-handed
  • joining instructions
  • border pattern
  • charts, both right-handed and left-handed
  • a glossary of all stitches and techniques used

There are no videos or round by round help in this one, but none of the patterns are too advanced and I am always here to help.
